During April, hundreds of miles were clocked up in Bristol and hundreds of pounds raised by the incredible participants of our “Run, walk or wheel 95 Miles for PROPS in April 2022” Appeal!

Did you know that 95% of adults with a learning disability are not in paid employment, despite the majority wanting to be?

Our mission at PROPS is to break down those barriers through offering practical, personal and professional skills training for over 50 adults with learning disabilities - from cooking and brewing to sports leadership and printing services.

The 95 miles appeal was launched to help us raise enough funds to build a Café and Service Hub at 769 Fishponds Road, where we will train and employ our Trainees, breaking down the barriers they face and building opportunities in a very real way!

You can read more about our plans for the PROPS Project 769 Café here https://www.propsbristol.org/news/project-769-launch

We’re so grateful for the efforts of the wonderful people who walked, wheeled and ran their way through the month, helping raise vital funds to support our work!

One local fundraiser, Emma, has raised over £240 for the appeal by cycling and walking more than 96 miles around East Bristol!

Emma said “This is a problem close to my heart. My lovely niece has learning disabilities & will likely struggle to find work let alone have a career when she's older. I'd like to help her & others have better opportunities in the future.”

You can still donate to Emma’s fundraising efforts here.

Another fundraiser, Dan, took part in the appeal as part of his preparation miles for the PROPS Bristol to Bordeaux cycle challenge on 6 July 2022, where Dan will join 70 other riders and PROPS trainees to cycle 500 miles in 4 days!

Dan has already raised nearly £500 for PROPS through the appeal and his Bristol 2 Bordeaux fundraiser, you can support him here!

Dan says “It’s great to support such a worthy charity. My mum has always worked in the sector and so it has a personal meaning too.”

From the bottom of our hearts thank you to the ALL of our smashing 95 Mile Fundraisers including Emily, who raised over £40, Colin who has raised £45, and Fiona who ran, danced and played softball cricket - and all whilst raising money for Props!

Our wonderful participants received T-Shirts lovingly handmade by PROPS trainees in Bristol and for those that raised over £150 their first coffee in the PROPS 769 Café will be free plus their name featured on the Wall of Thanks inside the building.
